Blue Dun Painting
     Environment-Friendly

Green is Much More Than a Color at Blue Dun Painting

I highly recommend the use of paints which utilize either 'Low VOC' or 'No VOC' formulas.* These paints have little or no solvent content, are very low-odor, and are human, animal and environment-friendly. Benjamin Moore's "Aura" line, Miller's "Acro Pure", and Rodda's "Horizon" paints are great examples of these new products. Blue Dun has contractor accounts at each of these companies' outlets. All these paints are Green Seal Certified. Green Seal is a Washington D.C.-based, non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and utilization of environmentally responsible products. Blue Dun Painting is registered with Green Seal and is allowed to use their graphics because of our commitment to the use of their officially sanctioned products whenever possible.

While oil-based paints are sometimes used for wood and trim, they are harmful to the environment in their manufacture and in the disposal of byproducts such as paint thinner, acetone, and other solvents used in the clean-up of oil-based paints. Additionally, there have been tremendous strides made in recent years with latex (water-based) paints. They are beautiful, long-lasting, and when applied properly will protect household wood and trim as well as oil-based paint.

* Volatile Organic Compounds are emitted as gases from a wide array of solids and liquids commonly found in homes, such as paints, lacquers, cleaning supplies, pesticides, building materials and furnishings. You can learn more about this subject at the Environmental Protection Agency's website.
